Ford Bantam 2014 is a Ford car sold in South Africa. The model was based on the Ford Fiesta. The first generation of Ford Bantam was launched in 1983, being based on the Ford Escort Mk III. Bantam 2, who came to replace it, has already been associated with the Mazda 323. And the sixth generation Ford Bantam is associated with the Ford Laser. He is also known as the Mazda Rustler.
Bantam 3 was launched on the assembly line in 2002, using a front end from the Ford Fiesta V Mark (codenamed BE91), but still on the same rear suspension and bodywork from Bantam 1. It was produced at the plant in Pretoria.
Used engines: 1.3-liter 8V and 1.6-liter 8V SOHC Rocam gasoline engines, and a 1.8-liter diesel.
Bantam 3 has the same forecarriage as the Brazilian Ford Courier. But they have different bodies. In 2006 diesel engines came out of the line. The car was successfully sold as a compact truck, while remaining a comfortable everyday car.
