Nissan Skyline 1996 combines both excellent driving performance and comfort of a business-class sedan. It embodies the concept of the Grand Touring Car with excellent driving characteristics. As a result of new design solutions, the wheelbase of the car has grown by more than 100 mm, the dimensions of the body have increased, and the interior space has expanded accordingly. Thanks to the improved suspension, the car remains stable even when driving on high-speed roads, making the trip at long distance quick and pleasant.
As standard, the car is equipped with fully disc brakes (front ventilated), electric windows and mirrors, central lock, climate control system. Optionally, a rear wiper and increased slip differential (LSD) were offered. The expensive Skyline versions as ​​a mass sports car have fog lights, an electric sunroof, a front and rear spoiler, a leather steering wheel, a CD changer, ventilated disc brakes of all wheels.
The power of the 2.0-liter basic engine (RB20E, SOHC) is 130 hp. The power of the 2.5-liter engine is 190 hp. (RB25DE, DOHC). The modification of the GTS25 type S has a 200 hp engine. Skyline GTS25t type M has the engine of 250 hp working in combination with mechanic transmission and 245 hp working with a 4-speed automatic transmission.
The car has front and rear independent multi-link suspension. On some of the versions installed a new electronic system full-steering steering Super HICAS, instead of the old hydraulic HICAS. This system was first tested on the Skyline R32 GTR. In addition, some cars could be equipped with an active differential LSD (Active LSD).
As before, all-wheel drive versions with a 190-horsepower engine were produced both on the “automatic” and “mechanics”. The four-wheel drive transmission is similar to the one used in the GTR with the torque distribution system between the ATTESA E-TS axles, which includes the LSD limited slip differential and anti-lock braking system. The car remains rear-wheel drive, as well as other modifications, however at occurrence of slipping the front axle receives up to 50% of a twisting moment.
At Nissan Skyline 1996 the necessary security is the availability of two pillows – the driver’s and front passenger’s and anti-lock brakes. Also standard for all versions were three-point belts, stiffeners in the doors, child seat anchorages, an additional stop-signal. Skyline is very popular with connoisseurs of speed and drive, especially among young people.
