Audi R8 Prepares For Farewell: Special Version For Japan

  • by

Last November, an epochal event happened: the last Audi TT sports car rolled off the assembly line. Over 25 years, almost 663 thousand cars of three generations have been produced. But the production stop did not come as a surprise, because the day before Audi released several farewell versions of the TT model, which were intended for different markets. And now a similar scenario seems to be applied to the Audi R8 mid-engined supercar. The first farewell batch was built for the Japanese market.

The special version of the Audi R8 V10 Japan Final Edition is based on the serial coupe in the V10 performance quattro modification. The body is covered with a matte Ibis White paint and decorated with carbon fiber details of the aerodynamic tail, as well as black nameplates. The 20-inch wheels are also matte, inside of which glossy red calipers are hidden, working in tandem with carbon-ceramic brake discs.

The interior of the supercar is lined with black and alabaster nappa leather with a diamond-shaped pattern on the backs of bucket seats. The same pattern adorns the alcantara ceiling. And the main feature of the interior is the aluminum linings located on the thresholds with an individual number and the name of the Japan Final Edition special version. The naturally aspirated V10 5.2 engine (620 hp, 580 Nm), the seven-speed preselective “robot” S tronic and the all-wheel drive transmission remained standard.

Only eight copies of the farewell version will be released. Customers will also receive a commemorative metal die with the serial and VIN number of the machine. For such an exclusive, Japanese buyers will have to pay 35.1 million yen, which is equivalent to $ 247,600 or 22.1 million rubles at the current exchange rate. Farewell versions for other markets should be expected soon.
