At home in China, the BAIC X7 was introduced three years ago, and last spring it already managed to go through a planned facelift. However, the Chinese X7 was able to get to the conveyor of the Kaliningrad Motor only at the end of last October, and in the original form of the 2020 sample. And now, after another month, a large suv enters the market.
The BAIC X7 is the largest crossover in the range of the Chinese brand, only frame SUVs are larger. Its length is 4710 mm, width — 1892 mm, height — 1715 mm, and wheelbase — 2800 mm, that is, it is comparable in size to the Jetour X70 Plus and Skoda Kodiaq models. It is based on the modular BMFA platform of the BAIC concern. This means front-wheel drive, McPherson struts at the front and a multi-link at the rear, and there is space for a traction battery under the floor. Yes, in China, the X7 can be a rechargable hybrid, but only the classic gasoline version is offered for Russia.
A four-cylinder 1.5 turbo engine with direct fuel injection is transversely located under the hood. Its power is 180 hp, and the maximum torque is 270 Nm at 1500-4500 rpm, while the use of “ninety—second” gasoline is allowed. The gearbox is a seven—speed “robot” with two clutches, and the drive is only front. Passport ground clearance — 200 mm.
There are three displays in the cabin at once. In addition to the usual multimedia system (12.3 inches) and digital dashboard (7 inches), there is a screen at the bottom of the center console that is responsible for managing dual-zone climate control. There is no central tunnel on the second row, and the seats have adjustable backrest tilt. The third row is not provided, the declared trunk volume is a modest 410 liters.
In the Russian market, the BAIC X7 is offered in the only Comfort configuration. Its equipment includes a leather interior, electric driver’s seat, heated steering wheel, panoramic roof, rear parking sensors, all-round cameras, LED optics, 18-inch wheels and a number of electronic assistants. But there are only two airbags, and seat heating is not declared at all.
The price of such a crossover is 3 million 100 thousand rubles. There are only four body colors to choose from: black, white and two shades of gray. The BAIC X7 will be the fifth model of the brand in Russia, cars have already begun to be shipped to all BAIC dealerships. Next we should have a frame SUV BAIC BJ60.
