Not so long ago, the Tank 700 production SUV was completely declassified, but another, the largest and most expensive model under this brand is on the way. In conceptual form, the flagship Tank 800 was shown back in the spring of 2021, and now photospies have caught a camouflaged prototype of the future production car on the road.
In general, the “eight hundredth” retained the shapes and proportions of the concept car. Even through the film, a massive radiator grille with vertical bars is noticeable, and the lines of the sidewalls still echo the elite English SUVs. There are discrepancies with the concept only at the back: the shapes of the taillights and the fifth door have been revised (or the camouflage is too clever).
At the same time, some technical features became clear. The main of which is the presence of a proprietary Hi4—T hybrid powerplant. In the Tank 700 model, it includes a V6 3.0 turbo engine and an electric motor built into a nine-stage “automatic” 9HAT. The total output of the system is 523 hp and 850 Nm. The same units will go to the “eight hundredth” Tank.
In addition, by analogy with the 700 model, the flagship will be built on the latest D71 platform. This frame trolley has an independent rear suspension, pneumatic cylinders instead of springs, adaptive shock absorbers and electronically controlled opening stabilizer bars (they allow you to increase the maximum wheel travel by 60 mm).
According to the brand management, the serial Tank 800 will appear on the Chinese market in 2024. It’s too early to talk about prices yet, but there is already a benchmark: the welcome top version of the Tank 700 model will cost 700 thousand yuan (that’s 98 thousand dollars) by pre-order.
