Levc Xspace Minivan Will Be The Firstborn Of The New Platform

  • by

The British company LEVC (London Electric Vehicle Company), part of the Geely holding empire, is preparing for a large-scale expansion of its model range. Currently, the range includes only two related models — the LEVC TX passenger van (originally created for taxis) and the LEVC VN5 cargo van. Moreover, the main production is located in England, although the assembly of vans is also organized at the Geely plant in China. But the upcoming model range is being prepared entirely in China, and now the first car is shown.

The LEVC Xspace minivan has an in—house L380 index, which is chosen to resemble the designation of the Airbus A380 airliner, the largest passenger aircraft in the world. The designers even tried to give the single-volume a visual resemblance to an Airbus, but without a hint it is unlikely to be seen. However, the Xspace also turned out to be rather big, although not a record: length — 5316 mm, width — 1998 mm, height — 1940 mm. The wheelbase is 3185 mm.

The interior has not yet been declassified, but it is clear from the certification documents that the LEVC Xspace will be offered in variants with three or four rows of seats. These are six or eight places, respectively. The fourth row is a single double sofa, which can be folded into a niche located in the rear overhang. In any case, separate chairs are installed on the second and third rows.

It is important that the LEVC Xspace will be the first production model based on the new SOA (Space Oriented Architecture) electric platform, which was announced back in the spring. It is designed just for vans and minibuses with a wheelbase of 3.0—3.8 m and an overall length of 4.9—6 m, and the compact rear suspension allows you not to sacrifice the volume of the cargo compartment. It is planned to install traction batteries with a capacity from 73 to 120 kWh, different types of drive (front, rear, full), as well as autopilot of the second or third level.

There is still very little information about the technology of the Xspace minivan. It is stated that the electric vehicle with a curb weight of 2805 kg will have one electric motor with a capacity of 272 hp, and the power reserve on a single charge exceeds 600 km. The maximum speed is 170 km/h. More data will be available after the full premiere, which will take place in the coming months. LEVC Xspace will be released in China.
