Porsche Macan Of The Second Generation: The Interior Is Shown

  • by

The first and so far only generation of the Porsche junior crossover was introduced back in 2014. Since then, the Macan has already gone through two updates, with the second upgrade taking place just two years ago. It was connected with the need to extend the conveyor life of the current gasoline generation until it is replaced by a completely new electric car. His debut was supposed to take place this year, but was postponed until 2024 due to software problems. Porsche is gradually publishing crumbs of information about the car, and now the first official image of the interior has appeared.

It is expected to use the same architecture of the Porsche Driver Experience that recently appeared on the Cayenne and Panamera models, and originally debuted on the Taycan sedan. The digital dashboard is a curved display with a diagonal of 12.6 inches. The driver will also have access to a projection screen with a wide viewing angle and support for augmented reality. This technology allows you to display a variety of interactive prompts — for example, arrows indicating the direction of a turn, or red sectors showing the dangerous distance to the car ahead.

In the center of the front panel is the main screen of the media system (10.9 inches), which has support for Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto wireless protocols, built-in Google or Apple maps, as well as an over-the-air update function. A third display of a similar size can be ordered especially for the front passenger. It gives access to some on—board functions, and most importantly – allows you to watch videos and social networks on the move. It is even possible to download mobile games from the branded Porsche App Centre app store. All thanks to the software shell based on the Android operating system.

Brief technical data of the crossover were published a year ago. The second-generation electric Macan is built on the promising PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, which has an 800-volt electrical system and allows two-motor modifications with all-wheel drive, and the power of the DC charger reaches 270 kW. The title version of the Macan will have two electric motors with a total output of 612 hp and 1000 Nm, a CATL traction battery with a capacity of 100 kWh, as well as an air suspension (clearance adjustment range is 70 mm) and a fully controlled chassis: the rear wheels can deviate by an angle of up to five degrees. Static weight distribution along the axes is 48:52 in favor of the rear axle, acceleration time to “hundreds” is 3.6 seconds.

A fully finished production version will be presented in the first half of 2024, and deliveries to first customers are scheduled for September. The new Macan will be produced at the same plant in Leipzig, where the current gasoline model is made. Moreover, it will remain in service until 2026, because Porsche does not want to take risks and leave the electric crossover without gasoline cover.
