The large Geely Galaxy E8 sedan has become the third model in the newly formed family of electrified cars. And if the Galaxy L6 sedan and the Galaxy L7 crossover that have already entered the PRC market have hybrid powerplants, then the new Galaxy E8 is a full—fledged electric car.
In profile, the E8 looks like a liftback, but there are four doors here. The car turned out to be large: 5010 in length, 1920 mm in width and 1465 mm in height. The wheelbase is 2925 mm. The size of the Galaxy E8 is comparable to the BYD Han model, which is already familiar to us. Very efficient aerodynamics are promised: the Cd coefficient is only 0.199, which is even lower than that of the Mercedes EQS liftback.
The interior of the new model is made in the spirit of the times. But attention is attracted by a huge screen that extends almost the entire width of the front panel. Its diagonal is 45 inches! The washer on the central tunnel is responsible for managing the media system. Depending on the configuration, the sedan can have a steering wheel with a whole rim or a fashionable steering wheel, and there is a second-level autopilot from electronic assistants.
The Galaxy E8 is built on the modular SEA electric platform, which Geely Holding uses for a wide range of electric vehicles, including Zeekr models. So far, only the rear—wheel drive version with a single electric motor with a capacity of 272 hp has been announced. Lithium-iron-phosphate traction batteries with a capacity of 62 or 76 kWh are available, the claimed power reserve is 550 and 665 km according to the CLTC cycle, respectively. The curb weight of the basic version is 2030 kg, and the maximum speed is 190 km/h.
It is expected that the market debut of the sedan will take place before the end of this year, and the starting price will exceed 200 thousand yuan (2.53 million rubles).
