Xpeng X9 Became The First Minivan Of The Brand

Xpeng Motors showed its sixth model at the Guangzhou Auto Show, and this is the first single-volume car in the range. The Xpeng X9 minivan opens a new chapter in the history of the company, and this is immediately clear from its appearance. If earlier the firm’s models were characterized by soft and rounded Tesla-like contours, now geometric motifs dominate in appearance.

The hood and windshield are made in a single plane, the roof is made almost flat. At the same time, the Xpeng X9 turned out to be very streamlined: the declared aerodynamic drag coefficient Cd is only 0.227. The minivan has 5293 mm in length, 1988 mm in width and 1785 mm in height. The wheelbase is 3160 mm, and the standard wheels are 19-inch.

The interior is designed in the modern spirit of minimalism, a large central screen on the front panel supports the separation of the picture for the driver and front passenger. There is a separate instrument display in front of the driver. All onboard electronics are controlled by the new XOS Tiangui operating system, which promises enhanced capabilities and performance.

The seven-seat cabin has a seating scheme 2+2+3 . Two separate chairs are installed on the second row, which can be shifted both longitudinally and transversely, and the position of the backs is adjustable in the range of 176 degrees. The equipment includes tables on the backs of the front seats, a folding monitor of the media system and a separate sunroof, its own climate control zone, as well as an unusual ring “chandelier” on the ceiling. The seats of the third row can be folded into the floor, forming a spacious flat area.

Xpeng X9 is also interesting in technical terms. It is built on the SEPA 2.0 platform with an 800-volt electrical system and aluminum subframes, but if the Xpeng G6 crossover got it in a simple version, then the minivan flaunts an air suspension and a steering mechanism of the rear wheels (they can turn at an angle of up to 5 degrees). There is also a second-level autopilot with lidars.

There will be two power plant options to choose from. The basic one provides one electric motor on the front axle with a capacity of 320 hp. The second version has an additional engine on the rear axle with a capacity of 183 hp, that is, the total return of the all-wheel drive X9 is 503 hp. The capacity of the traction battery and fast charging capabilities have not yet been reported. The maximum speed of both versions is 200 km/h. Curb weight — from 2560 to 2630 kg, depending on the version.

Xpeng X9 will be delivered to the first customers in January next year, although the acceptance of orders is already open: the basic version costs 388,000 yuan (approximately 54 thousand dollars).
